Key objectives for the Paso Robles Area Groundwater Subbasin.
The MILR Program is designed to achieve several key goals for the Paso Robles Area Groundwater Subbasin:
Reduce pumping
Assist and track owners of agricultural land who voluntarily reduce groundwater pumping.
Target communities
Prioritize pumping reductions near communities whose drinking water wells are threatened.
Voluntary path
Provide an alternative to mandatory pumping reductions through voluntary enrollment.
Multi-benefit
Support land repurposing to less water-intensive uses and other sustainability measures.
